Mammal Shoulder Mounts

With Tim Bovard of the Natural History Museum of LA & Allis Markham

This class will be held Sunday August 12th, 2018 from 9AM to 6PM.

This class is perfect for taxidermy beginners or experienced students who want to focus on the intricacies of mammal faces. We will be working with specimens that have already been skinned, prepped and tanned; many commercial taxidermy schools use prepped specimens to teach in exactly this way.

Because these specimens are from salvage or abatement, we don't have all of one kind. However, that's good for you because we have many different ones to choose from. Each one below has its own special and adorable facial characteristics:

  • Raccoon - $450  (2 Available)
  • Coyote - $585 (3 Available)

In this class you will learn to work with a commercial form, create/insert your own ear-liners, shape nose, set eyes, tuck eye lids, tuck mouth and practice the finer aspects of grooming hair/whiskers. Students will also focus on sculpting realistic expressions and how to properly utilize reference material. You will also be given detailed instructions on how to do finishing work at home.

All supplies, tools & specimens will be provided and are included in the class fee. We will be working on various specimens that were collected from as nuisance animals or as roadkill from states legal to collect in. Students keep their final mounts. Deaths not related to the art.

*Please be aware of our strict cancellation policy.  Due to continual last-minute cancelations impacting our business, we must charge a $100 cancellation fee and will attempt to re-sell your spot.
